It appears the overnight news about China and Russia talks of fading out their use of dollars and Ireland credit rating decreased by 2 notches from A to AA- had some bad effect on today’s mortgage rates.

Today’s market rate for 15 years and 30 years at one point both went up by at least 0.125% point.

The current 15 years fixed no point rate is: 3.875% // APR – 3.931%

The current 30 years fixed no point rate is: 4.625% // APR – 4.714%

From this increase, right now is definitely a not good time to lock any loans. It might be if your goal is to get that rate. We can’t predict the future. The rate might rise again in a couple of days or it might starts to drop. What makes sense is to find a rate you are comfortable with and lock it when it comes.
